KYC stands for Know Your Customer. It is an identity check that financial services run before they issue a card or open certain features. It is required by financial regulation and anti-money-laundering rules, and it protects users and the platform from fraud.
What KYC protects against
A confirmed identity stops people from opening fake accounts with forged documents. It helps the platform find and stop illegal transactions, and it lowers the risk that someone steals your personal data or gets into your account.
When Rumto asks for it
- When you get a card. The level depends on the card: for Visa E-commerce you verify your phone number, and for Visa Universe and Mastercard Business you also upload an ID document and take a selfie.
- When you turn on certain financial services and features.
- When you raise your transaction limits.
- When you change profile details, if the law requires it.
How the check works
- Fill in the form: full name, date of birth and address.
- Upload an identity document: a passport or a driving licence.
- The system checks the data automatically, and a manual review is added if needed.
- You get the result in your account.
An automatic check usually takes a few minutes. A manual review takes from a few hours to one or two business days. You’ll be notified by email and in your account.
If the check is rejected
The notification tells you why. Common reasons are a blurry document photo, details in the form that don’t match the document, an expired document or a document type that isn’t accepted. Fix the problem and try again, or contact support.
Is it safe to upload documents?
Files travel over an encrypted connection (HTTPS) and are stored encrypted. They are used only to verify your identity, aren’t shared with third parties without your consent, and are deleted under the data retention policy.
