Paying by card in Turkey

In Turkey, Rumto virtual cards are accepted wherever Visa or Mastercard works: in shops, cafés, hotels and online services.

Important: before you buy a card, check in the app that it works in Turkey. Each card has its own list of countries where it can’t be used, and the list may be updated as international rules change. If a payment is declined in a country that isn’t on the list, contact support. All current lists are in where Rumto cards work.

How to pay

  1. Get a card in the Rumto app.
  2. Top up your wallet with crypto and move funds to the card.
  3. Add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay to pay in shops, or use the card details online.

Currency and paying at the till

Turkey’s currency is the Turkish lira (TRY). Terminals often offer to charge you in another currency instead. Choose the lira: the local currency is almost always cheaper. More in dynamic currency conversion.

The card is for cashless payments only, so you can’t withdraw cash at an ATM with it.
