Paying by card in the UAE

In the United Arab Emirates, Rumto cards are accepted in shops, hotels and services that work with Visa and Mastercard.

Important: before you buy a card, check in the app that it works in the UAE. Each card has its own list of countries where it can’t be used, and the list may be updated as international rules change. If a payment is declined in a country that isn’t on the list, contact support.

How to pay

  1. Get a card in the Rumto app.
  2. Top up your wallet with crypto and move funds to the card.
  3. Add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay to pay in shops, or use the card details online.

Currency and paying at the till

The UAE’s currency is the dirham (AED). If a terminal offers to charge you in dollars or another currency, choose dirhams: the local currency is almost always cheaper. More in dynamic currency conversion.

The card is for cashless payments only, so you can’t withdraw cash at an ATM with it.
