Paying by card in Georgia

In Georgia, Rumto virtual cards are accepted in most shops, cafés and services that take Visa or Mastercard.

How to pay

  1. Get a Rumto virtual card and check that Georgia isn’t on its list of restricted countries. The app shows the list before you buy.
  2. Top up your wallet with crypto and move funds to the card.
  3. Add the card to Apple Pay or Google Pay for shops, or use the card details for online services.

Important: before you buy a card, check in the app that it works in Georgia. Each card has its own list of countries where it can’t be used, and the list may be updated as international rules change. If a payment is declined in a country that isn’t on the list, contact support.

Currency and paying at the till

Georgia’s currency is the Georgian lari (GEL). If the terminal offers to charge you in dollars or another currency, choose the lari. The local currency is almost always cheaper: see dynamic currency conversion.

You can’t withdraw cash at an ATM with the card: it is for cashless payments only. It also has no PIN, so if a terminal asks for one, use another till or terminal.
